Historical large Investment by LSAB in Finnish Kajaani.
“Finland is the third-largest producer of sawn timber in Europe. In the Kajaani region, where we have operations, there is currently high activity within the sawmill industry. That’s why we are now undertaking a historic large investment in our Finnish service unit,” says Martin Andersson, Business Area Manager of LSAB.
In 2012, LSAB acquired the unit in Kajaani, which performs services such as blade sharpening for circular saws and bandsaw blades. The customers mainly consist of sawmills and wood industries in Sweden and Finland.
“We are now preparing for an expansion of our operations in Kajaani. To meet the increased demand, especially for blades for HewSaw saw lines, we are investing in new equipment and a new grinding robot. This investment is the largest in the company’s history,” says Mika Rahko, CEO of LSAB Finland.
Sharpening services are an integral part of LSAB’s offering. Many types of tools need to be sharpened and retooled to ensure the customers get the maximum uptime from their tools. By providing full-service for the tools, quality and performance are ensured. In addition to sharpening and retooling, they also perform balancing, cleaning, straightening, and repairs of damaged tool bodies.
LSAB Wood Solutions is a business area within the LSAB Group that manufactures and sells tools for wood processing. The business area has a turnover of approximately 250 million SEK and is a leading player in northern Europe. The goal is to establish itself as a comprehensive service partner in Europe and to be the international market leader within its niche.
