Where we are … and where we are going

2011
LSAB is getting ready
Långshyttan Slipservice was founded in 1982 in Svinöhed outside Långshyttan. In 2011, LSAB Group was created with a merger of Fortiva Group and Långshyttan Slipservice. LSAB Group has establishments in Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Latvia and Russia.
2012-2016:
LSAB GROUP 2.0 EXPANSION
The company starts with a strategy based on local presence and rapid expansion. Growth is achieved mainly through the acquisition of smaller local grinding mills. A number of own establishments are also made in existing markets. LSAB acquires Westlings and Vistträsk and strengthens its offering to Sågverk. LSAB establishes itself in Norway.
2017-2019
LSAB GROUP 3.0 CONSOLIDATION
LSAB Acquires Micor. Service operations are consolidated. New strategy with a focus on synergies and value creation. Service is no longer the core business but an offer among several in the portfolio
2020-2024
LSAB GROUP 4.0 DEVELOPMENT
LSAB is well positioned in the Nordic and Baltic markets. Continued focus on Sawmills, Planing and Wood industry. Wood Solutions, Metal Solutions and Tooling business areas are formed. Development of the group’s international offering continues, ambitious plans for continued profitable growth. Sustainability is given increased focus.

LSAB Wood Solutions is a business area within the LSAB Group with the manufacture and sale of tools for wood processing. The business area has sales of approximately SEK 250 million and we are a leading player in Northern Europe. Our ambition is to be an international market leader in our niche. We see ourselves as a natural partner to Sawmills & Planers and the Wood and Furniture industry.

The international consolidation continues and the demands on us as a supplier increase. We build competence to meet our customers both locally and internationally. LSAB wants to be involved in developing the industry and with our size and focus on development, the focus is on a market-leading position in Europe. We are an international supplier of chip-cutting products for the wood industry such as Sawmills, Planers and Wood, Furniture industry. Our starting point is our customers’ needs for high quality, maximum yield of the raw material, high speed, minimizing downtime and durability. By offering digital services in combination with many years of experience and cutting-edge expertise, we help our customers make the right decision. The process for developing our customer relationship is well defined and always begins with a current situation analysis followed by the preparation of proposals, implementation and finally an evaluation. In order to offer maximum benefit, we need to increase contact with decision-makers at our customers. Strategic decisions and new solutions require both contact with our customers’ management, such as site managers, production managers and personnel who handle the product / service itself.

LSAB’s products refine our most valuable raw material, which is an important part of building a sustainable society. Although wood is a renewable raw material, the supply is not infinite, so we constantly focus on maximum yield and efficient use of this fantastic material. We are very proud to be a part of our industry.

Optimized presence

In an increasingly globalized world, it is important to constantly develop and to be in the right place with the right business. We continuously review where and how we are established, with a focus on building economies of scale. In the long run, this will probably mean larger units in fewer places.

Optimized product portfolio

We work actively with our product portfolio to ensure that we have a complete offer for intended customer segments. The portfolio is a mix of both products and services, if we are missing something, it must be supplemented with either our own development work, acquisitions or products / services that we can sell under our own name.

Customer focus

If you want to be profitable, it is not possible to sell everything to everyone. That is why we are careful when choosing our customers. We do not focus on everything we can do but what we want to do and what is best for the customer. We must have a high level of knowledge about the customer’s processes, future challenges and what the customer’s success factors are. Our commitment must be genuine and long-term. We are never tempted to make short-term gains at the expense of sustainable cooperation over time.

Operational excellence

There is no intrinsic value in producing yourself, but what we produce should contribute to increased competitiveness and profitability. Therefore, we continuously evaluate what we are to manufacture in-house and what we are to procure through subcontractors.

Latour Industries AB is owned by Investment AB Latour and is one of six operating wholly owned business areas. Latour Industries is an investment company active in engineering and building automation. Our strength is to develop and refine companies so that they reach their full potential. We also work actively to identify and acquire new companies with growth potential. Through our long experience from industry and business development, we contribute to each business unit developing independently and stably. We stand for careful ownership where we add financial resources and inspiring leadership. We reward individual entrepreneurship that leads to development and increases each unit’s competitiveness. Our goal is for each company to increase its profitability long-term and permanently in order to eventually be able to form the backbone of new business areas. Latour Industries currently has 6 business units with different specializations and approximately 1,600 employees. Latour Industries International AB was formed on 19 February 2010 through a merger of the former business areas Verkstadsteknik och Maskinhandel. Latour Industries originates from two long-standing companies: the family company AB Sigfrid Stenberg, which was founded in 1910, and Specma AB, which was founded in 1918. These have developed and broadened their business area under Investment AB Latour’s ownership and form the basis of the newly formed Latour Industries.
