LSAB is making a large investment in Vistträsk.
“We see an increased demand and are continuously investing to develop our offering. We are now preparing for a new grinding robot that will primarily increase automation for blades used in saw lines such as HewSaw, Linck, and AriVislanda,” says Martin Andersson, Business Area Manager at LSAB.
Since 1982, blade and band saw grinding operations have been carried out in Vistträsk, located just over an hour’s drive west of Luleå. Since 2008, the business has been a part of LSAB, which offers grinding services mainly in the Nordic region and the Baltics, with a focus on sawmills and the wood industry.
“We see an increased demand and are continuously investing to develop our offering. We are now preparing for a new grinding robot in Vistträsk that will increase automation, particularly for blades used in saw lines such as HewSaw, Linck, and AriVislanda. There is currently high activity in the sawmill industry in the Vistträsk area. Geographically, the region is situated in the heart of the Scandinavian softwood belt, which means high-quality raw materials and a perfect location for sawmill operations. Sweden is the second-largest producer of sawn timber in Europe and continues to invest in the development of the wood industry and a bio-based society, including the expansion of sawmills and pulp factories,” says Martin Andersson, Business Area Manager at LSAB.
Grinding services are an integrated part of LSAB’s offering. Many types of tools require grinding and reconditioning to maximize their lifespan for customers. By offering full-service solutions for tools, quality and performance are ensured. In addition to grinding and reconditioning, balancing, cleaning, straightening, and repairs of worn tool bodies are also performed. Grinding of blades for double-axle saw lines is part of the growth in Vistträsk.
Martin Andersson continues: “The sawmill industry is undergoing consolidation and internationalization. We see that international corporations are growing and driving consolidation in the market. LSAB is a company with similar ambitions. We are transforming from a locally successful Swedish company rooted in Långshyttan into an international collaborative partner with a focus on larger corporations and operations in multiple countries.”
LSAB Wood Solutions is a business area within the LSAB Group, manufacturing and selling tools for wood processing. The business area has a turnover of approximately 250 million SEK and is a leading player in Northern Europe. The goal is to establish itself as a comprehensive service partner in Europe and to be an international market leader within its niche.
